Sunflower Power Balls

Also known as bird turds – thanks mum – these little nut free powerhouses are a super tasty chocolatey treat without the guilt. Just don’t have too many. They do contain maca so pregnant ladies please omit this when making, and enjoy!

Ingredients

200g sunflower seeds

100g desiccated coconut

40g raw cacao

2Tbsp maca powder

20 fresh dates – pitted (this is a rough measure you may need a few less or more depending on their size.)

Method

Place all ingredients except for dates into food processor/thermomix and blend until fine. With motor running, add dates 2 to 3 at a time. The mixture will be soft and squishy and hold together when formed into a ball.

Roll mixture into balls. You can store these in the fridge and they also freeze really well.

Secret squirrel tip

If you press this mix into a brownie tin and cut into nice thick slices, you can warm it a little in the microwave (25-40sec) and it will be like a fudgy brownie, just add cream and berries for a totally delicious dessert! – x

    I’ve tried making these power, so called bliss” balls at home. They’re really filling which is great but I haven’t figured out if they actually give you energy..What’s your experience like?

      All food is a source of energy, and I find these power balls to be a great pick me up especially in the mid afternoon. And as they are so filling they keep me going until meal time rather than continually grazing and snacking. Xx
